A review of the breast screening arm of the National Screening Unit has indicated loss of skills, unsettled staff and a fractured relationship between the 8 providers around the country.

breastscreenAs a result, a steering group, led by doctors will explore how the existing service can be redeveloped and improved.  The review acknowledged, however the service has achieved improved screening rates, particularly among Maori and Pacific people.
