Pacific Island women are more likely to die from breast cancer than other ethnic groups in NZ. Their five year survival rate is 79% compared to 87% for NZ European women*. The reasons behind this are complex but often these women present too late with breast cancer symptoms making effective treatment difficult.
“Faith, Love and Hope” is a 12 minute video featuring Pacific Island women with a united goal; to encourage women to go for breast screening by promoting the importance of early detection.
The NZBCF would like to acknowledge all the women who shared their stories on both DVD’s, and the creative talents and health professionals who contributed their time to their production.
